Submission
Guidelines
The following guidelines outline what we accept, how submissions are reviewed, and the standards we expect from every film submtited.
Eligibility
Short films only. We currently accept narrative, documentary, animation, experimental, and hybrid work.
Films should generally be under 40 minutes unless otherwise stated.
You must own or control all rights necessary to submit and exhibit the film on ShortStage.
Films may only be submitted by directors.
Accepted Formats
You can submit via Vimeo, or YouTube.
Please ensure your video is viewable and remains accessible.
Poster and thumbnail artwork should be high quality, correctly cropped, and representative of the film.
If applicable, include subtitles or captions for accessibility and clarity.
Content & Quality Standards
We select films based on storytelling, originality, craft, emotional impact, and presentation.
Poorly exported, incomplete, corrupted, or low-quality uploads may be declined.
Metadata matters: title, synopsis, runtime, genre, cast, and crew should be accurate and professionally presented.
We reserve the right to reject submissions that do not meet our editorial or technical standards.
Review Process
Every submission is reviewed by the ShortStage team.
If edits are requested, you will receive notes explaining what needs to be changed before reconsideration.
Approval is not guaranteed, even if a film has been edited and resubmitted.
Rights & Responsibility
By submitting, you confirm you have permission to use all music, footage, artwork, and performances included in the film.
You are solely responsible for any legal claims arising from your submission.
ShortStage may remove content at any time if rights, safety, policy, or platform concerns arise.
Platform Standards
ShortStage is a curated platform. We prioritise strong visual identity, thoughtful presentation, and work that feels ready for a public audience.
Misleading titles, offensive metadata, spam submissions, or placeholder content may result in rejection or account review.
Repeated low-quality or abusive submissions may lead to restrictions on future submissions.
